Ideal For People
Not all adventurous activities need as much equipment as they do people, some of the more team based activities mean your priority is to get everyone to where you are going, for activities such as rafting, rowing and pot holing where equipment is light or stored at your destination. Here is a collection of three Ford cars which we feel represent a good choice and are often available at most car hire agencies.
Ford E-350 Super Duty XL Wagon
The Ford E-Series vans have many different variations, with this model being the middle of the range. Boasting 12 seats, this makes the XL Wagon great for larger groups traveling for boating events, paintballing and much more. It might not be able to handle the off road world as well as its 4x4 counterparts but you will be hard pushed to find a civilian vehicle with this kind of capacity that can!
Seating can be removed for extra storage space although you will not find any handy fold away features here, it will require you to take the seats out of the vehicle completely and find somewhere to store them which can be an issue if you are renting.
It makes up for this however by being fully air conditioned as standard and the majority of models are available with built in DVD players to entertain passengers on long journeys. This vehicle is also great for traveling groups of actors and musicians trying to take their show on the road!
Ford Tourneo
This van has more of a car like interior then ever before leaving the likes of the old fashioned minibus in the past. With loads of handy storage for passengers this van, unlike the American E-Series, features fold down second and third rows for maximum flexibility over the storage and passenger options within minutes. With up to nine seats this is ideal for large groups and a good amount of equipment.
The downsides for this van however is the lack of roof rack, meaning surfboards and canoes aren't an option (look to the equipment based section for something more suited) but you can still get a lot of camping equipment in there and a couple of bicycles too, making this ideal for those on a trek, camping holiday or festival just as long as you don't have any major off roading to do!
Ford Transit Minibus
With options to seat between 9 and 17 people this has to be the king of people transporters. As most groups wont need to use anywhere near the full 17 person capacity the space left for storage is unrivalled with the ability to arrange seating to suit the shape or your luggage meaning longer equipment should fit in no problem.
This Minibus features a great amount of safety elements, with everything from the standard ABS brakes and airbags for all front row passengers, to first aid kits and fire extinguishers. The driver, over long journeys can also enjoy features such as rain detecting windscreen wipers and cruise control along with the option of in built satellite navigation.
If you are renting however make sure you check out the model and configuration to make sure it suits your needs. Both this and the Tourneo are more likely to be found in European territories. Car Hire in Europe
